In an official statement issued by the Cricket Board of England and Wales (ECB), it was mentioned that Wood has been ruled out all the cricket for four months after explorations and subsequent surgery confirmed the damage to the left knee ligament.

The ECB also revealed that the Pacer Express had managed a knee problem for more than a year, but experienced greater rigidity and discomfort during the Afghanistan crash.

Mark Wood, meanwhile, said he was ruled out to be ruled out for a long period and thanked his surgeon, doctors, staff, colleagues in England and coaches for their support.

“I was dirty for a long time after representing England in all formats since the beginning of last year,” said Wood. “But I have all the confidence that I will shoot again on all cylinders now that I have been able to solve the knee.

“I want to thank the surgeon, the doctors, the staff, my teammates and coaches in England for their support, and, of course, our fans. I can’t wait to return and contribute to what will be a huge 2025 for us as a team.”

Mark Wood is not part of the IPL

Wood who was ruled out of the cricket for four months will have no impact on the Indian Premier League (IPL), as he is not part of any franchise in the T20 Marpa league.

He had registered at the mega auction, but could not be presented on the final list, as the Cricket Board of England and Wales (ECB) did not grant the NOC in the League.

Meanwhile, Mark Wood will work closely with the ECB’s medical team in its rehabilitation and recovery, and will aim to get up to the competitive cricket in late July 2025.
