Freaky Friday director Mark Waters Having hopes of working on the long-awaited 2025 sequence of the film-but, according to him, he never had the opportunity.
“I was not invited to the party,” claimed Waters, 61, in an interview with Diversity Published on Saturday, August 16.
The Director once stated that he realized that any part was about Friday Freakier Was off the table, he started focusing on other projects.
“It would have been nice to be involved but now I’m not, I’m kind of sharing for myself,” explained Waters. “I need to devote my energy to keep doing new, original things that will hits and people can redress them in 20 years.”
He also claimed that “quite a few cast members” had reached out to him during the filming.
Waters also looked back at the process of landing the director’s role in the first place – and the issue he had with the original script.
“I had the meeting and I remember going in and kind of feeling like they had a terrible script. I felt it would be great to get this job, but I couldn’t go in and tell them that this script was good, because I would lie,” he said. “The script was about a girl who worked in a school newspaper and wanted to be interviewed with Gwen Stefani at the Blues House. And I said, ‘Why are you doing this? She can’t be some nerd that works with the school paper and mother is a doctor. This is ‘Friday Freaky,’ you have to get the mother and daughter to be far apart. She needs to be a rock and role, she should be the lead guitarist in a band playing at Blues House and then the mother has to play a guitar. ‘”
