Mariska Hargitay shares the details of a special moment she shared with her biological father, Nelson Sardelli.
Back to People. The actress revealed in a screening of My mother jayne. In the Hamptonsfilm’s Summerdocs series on Thursday, July 17, she spent Father’s Day this year with Sardelli, 90, and apologized to her.
“It was so magical,” said Hargitay, 61. “He apologized and said, ‘Thank you for forgiving me.’ And I said, ‘Thank you for making the choice you made.’ “
The Law and order: SVU Star added, “So it’s like everyone is right in the end, but I was brought up not to know that.”
Hargitay, who is the daughter of the late Jayne Mansfieldfind out that Sardelli was her biological father – rather than Mickey Hargitay She arose – when she was about 25. The disclosures were published in the documentary about her mother.

So, I’m driving up to the house he was building and facing me,” he remembered the emotional conversation with Mickey. “It was like, ‘for what are you talking? Are you mad? That’s true.’”

“The irony is that I’m more like my father than anyone in our whole family. I’m a small-Mickey, so it was a very painful moment,” he added. “I say this is the moment I became an adult and it is so visible to me because I was in so much pain. I was so overwhelmed.”
The actress explained that she changed her approach after realizing that the experience was just as painful to Mickey, who died in 2006.
“It doesn’t matter what I feel, I love … and we’ve done here, we’ve done here,” he said. “I pretended to believe it, and we never talked about it again.”
