Maria Shriver offers a big update on her love life.
“Your 60s are great. I was single in my 60s – I’ve been single my 60s. Now, I’m ending my 60s,” Shriver, 69, said during the episode on Friday, June 27, Today with Jenna & Friends. “I loved single but other people had a big problem with it.”
The conversation came around Shriver’s love life as she and Jenna Bush Hager are discussing Sex and the city writer Bushnell candaceRecent article discussing sex after 60.
“I have to read it, but I could have written it,” said Shriver. “He would say, ‘the beginning and the end.’”

Just like Bushnell, 66, Shriver said she was “happy single” throughout the last decade.
“I love being in a couple, but I also loved single,” Shriver continued. “I’m interested in any great love experience. I’m trying to be open and am alive in all its forms.”

Her honest answer comes days after Shriver reflected on his 60s “incredible”. (She’s about to turn 70 this November.)
“My 60s were amazing. Nobody told me that,” he said during the episode on Wednesday, June 25. “My favorite decade was probably so far. I felt I was empowered. I felt I was in my zone. I felt I was doing what I wanted to do.
Shriver agreed when Bush Hager, 43, said she was focusing on herself for the first time in years.
“(I) felt a sense of freedom. Many of the things you think about: Am I raising my children well? Am I balancing work and children? If you’re in a wedding, am I partnering well? Are you caring for aging parents?” He continued. “Those were things behind me and those are really complicated of heavy things to millions and millions of people-and that was behind me.”

Shriver noted that while his 50s were “great too,” he was different from his 60s.
“That was all behind me in my 60s. I’m excited about turning 70, I have no idea, but my children tell me it is old.”
Shriver shares four children-Katherine, 35, Christina, 33, Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27-with ex-husband Arnold Schwarzenegger. The former couple was married for 25 years Before she discovered that Schwarzenegger had an affair and filed for a divorce in 2011. “I was excited with grief and tracing with confusion, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety. I was uncertain now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was cruel, and I was scared,” Shriver wrote about the infidelity in her book of poems I am mariaannounced earlier this year. “As I sat on the floor of my hotel room in the dark, on my own with tears flowing down my face, I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn’t have to be an end to you.”
