Melbourne Stars skipper Marcus Stoinis is enjoying himself on the field in the ongoing match against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL). The match between the two teams takes place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne.
After the Melbourne Stars posted a mammoth total of 219 runs on the board, Mark Steketee has taken them to a bright start with the ball. The pacer has taken three wickets quickly with the ball, removing Caleb Jewell, Charlie Wakim and Ben McDermott.
But it’s fair to say that Caleb Jewell’s cover credit goes to none other than Stoinis. The Melbourne Stars skipper produced a sensational effort in the field and picked one of the best catches of the season to send the batsman to the wickets.
Mark Steketee took a good long throw that moved. Caleb Jewell tried to get through the infield but couldn’t make the right connection as he took it off the back of the bat. It looked like the ball would clear mid-on with ease and the batsman would survive.
But Marcus Stoinis produced an impressive effort as he raced back and launched a long-on dive. He stretched his arms as far as possible and held on with both hands. He was then on the ground with both arms raised in celebration as his team celebrated the wicket.

Marcus Stoinis also had a good start with the bat in his team’s first innings. The Melbourne Stars skipper played a blistering innings of 32 runs off 19 balls. He batted at a strike rate of over 168 and also hit 4 fours and 1 six in his innings.
But the hero of the Melbourne Stars innings was Glenn Maxwell. The all-rounder played a brutal innings and ensured his team finished with a big total. He finished with the knock of 76 runs off 32 balls. He batted at a strike rate of over 237 with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes.
Beau Webster also hit a half-century and based on the collective effort with the bat, Melbourne Stars posted a total of 219 runs on the board. They now look like favorites to win the game as they have started quite well with the ball.
Apart from Mark Steketee, Tom Curran also added his name to the wicket column. Even skipper Marcus Stoinis picked a wicket when he removed Matthew Wade to leave the opposition reeling at 92/5.
