Washington Wizard Player Marcus Smart Gone to a shouting fight with a heckling fan on Boston Celtics’ home turf.
Smart, 31, screamed on the fan during the Sunday Wizards game, April 6, against the Celtics. Safety subsequently boosted the fan of TD Garden, where the wizards eventually lost to the Celtics, 90-124.
“(The fan) just crossed the line and we all know I’m not crossing a line,” said the point guard after Sunday’s game, back CBS Sports. “That’s it. We’re moving on. Unfortunately, you never want to see that, especially for a man who comes back, and has given everything he has to the city, but that’s what it is. Take the spirit, we’ll take it. To the next one.”
Smart began his NBA career with the Celtics. He was drafted to the team in 2014 and stayed in Boston for nine years. He was Pro Basketball’s defensive player of the year for the 2021-2022 season who helped take the Celts to the NBA finals in 2022. (The team lost to the Golden State Warriors that year.)
In 2023, Smart was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, and two years later, he was moved in another trade for the wizards.
Returning to Boston on Sunday, the athlete had no time on the court, but he received much love from Celtics fans (except the one).
“We want Marcus! We want Marcus!” The crowd chanted in the stands.
Injuries have kept it up to play these days. He fits in for just 54 games in the middle of his seasons with the Grizzlies and Wizards. On the final team, on average is nine points, two rebounds and 2.5 assist in making 39 percent of its three references.
Smart by correspondents Following the Matchup of the Wizards-Celtics who came back to TD Garden was a bitter feeling.
“The love is always there from both sides,” he said. “I and the fans, the city. It’s definitely emotional coming back. You try to hold it back, but I love it, I love every last piece of it. I’m part of the city. Nine years here. A young man’s child, so it’s all love.”
He remains close with his former Celtics players.
“In fact, more than you would probably think.… It’s definitely good to keep in touch with those guys,” he said. “Grown up with those guys. We went through many battles. It’s blood, sweat, and tears.” Few of those guys came to my mother’s funeral so it’s a deeper bond than just a ball -basket. “
