Fulham’s manager Marco Silva was furious after seeing his side denied what he believed was a legitimate workshop in his loss 2-0 in Chelsea.
Joshua King thought that he had given visitors an early advantage in the shock of the Premier League on Saturday, but Var intervened when the referee’s officers ruled that Rodrigo Muniz had committed a free kick.
Speaking afterwards, Silva did not remain in his assessment of the decision.
“Like someone who loves football, I feel sad. Just sad,” said Fulham’s head.
“In the first half I saw my team playing prominent football. Playing football, without trying to be false, not parking the bus or something. All the decisions of the VAR and the referee had a massive impact on the game. The second half was not at the level I would like to see on our team.
“After all the controversy against Man UTD last week … Similar incidents for the opposition and for us, they decide in a different way. We are here to learn and understand things, but for me it is almost impossible for me to feel that in the end it will be balanced.
“To avoid a goal like this is incredible. Incredible. We have all meetings with responsible people; we try to see their direction. One of the main things was:” Var is not here to arbitrate the game. “
Silva admitted that he was reluctant to go beyond the fear of disciplinary action, but his frustration was clear: “I would prefer anything more, since I will be punished.
“I want to be on the bench for the next game, I do not want to pay fines. But it has been difficult with so many decisions against us at the beginning of the season. We continue on.”
He pressed his frustrations more, the Portuguese coach expanded at another controversial moment.
“I would like to explain a lot of things. For example, the first goal. There was eight minutes of time, marker in the ninth. It has to stop the game, they are the rules. I asked the referee, he told me that we lost the time because he was talking to a player. I checked the video: the game did not stop for a second. What can I say? Chelsea won the game and we went ahead.
“I am wrong, the referee can make mistakes. The Premier League is so intense, so hard, but when it is black and white you cannot see something that was not there.
“I would like to understand the decisions and how the protocols followed. This is the main one for me because having these decisions in two games in eight days … it’s too much.”
