Can cost a pretty penny to use Taylor SwiftMusic in a project – just ask the comedian Maron’s mark.
“I think he came out to $ 50k (or) around that,” said Maron, 61, on the episode on Thursday, July 24, of Vulture’s “Good One” podcast. “I did everything I could get the joke in front of her.”
Maron performs a presentation of Swift’s “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” during her comedy shows after receiving the necessary approval.
“I know Jack Antonoff Enough to text him – and he is the cowriter on that song, ”Maron said on Thursday, referring to Longtime Swift colleague.” I said, ‘I don’t know what’s right or how to do this, but we’re running out of money on this thing. It will probably come out of my pocket. Is there anything you can do about this song or talk to Taylor? ‘”

Maron explained that Antonoff, 41, had been advised to “go through the right channels” to license the 2022 Song of Midnight.
“It was feasible. We made enough money,” said Maron for approval. “It was tight, but because of the ticket sales for the (TV version of the) special, we can get that song.”
According to Maron, the use fee applies to a “minute” from the track.
“If I had gone over the moment, it would have been more money,” he said. “We couldn’t even let him, like, play out the special or anything. So I came along with a band and wrote that music as the opening and closing. Yes, it was under a minute.”
Maron further emphasized that he had “history” with a Swift song, and so he needed to play it during the shows.
“He had to happen,” said Maron. “The real fear is, as, (if) she is not Let you use itAnd then what are you doing? You can’t make the piece on the special. That’s why I was, like, (highlighting) ‘I think she’ll like the piece.’ “
While the Swift team has “signed” at Maron’s request, he has no “any idea” who actually heard the Grammy winner, 35, the joke himself.
Maron revealed before its history with swift discography on the May 2023 chapter of his “WTF” podcast.
“I’m an open -minded man, and I like music. I want to try to find out what Taylor Swift is that not everyone is ever closing for, but people love Taylor Swift (a) adults too,” he said on the episode. “I put in MidnightAnd I’m starting to hike. I’m like, ‘Okay. I get it. ‘It’s pop music, but it’s not a dance music (AC) it’s kind of emotional, there is a lot of longing and sadness and loneliness and processing these overwhelming feelings of melancoli. “
Once Maron heard “more than the whole sky,” began to tear up for the track Message about grief and loss.
“I got me, a man, and then I got to the top of the mountain, and I’m doing what I always do,” he added. “I make a couple of pieces, and then I stand up and I get a head rush.
When Maron woke up, he had thoughts about, “That’s the way to die.”
