Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan praises the “irreplaceable” Kevin de Bruyne

Kevin de Bruyne is “irreplaceable” in Manchester City, according to his midfield partner Ilkay Gündogan.

The Belgium International announced that it will leave the city at the end of the season And he admitted his surprise that no new agreement was offered to the Etihad.

De Bruyne has not made a decision on his next play, but wherever he goes, his departure will leave a huge hole on both the pitch and the dressing room.

“It’s irreplaceable,” Gündogan told Espn. “We know that no one will come and it will be a replacement for him. Of course he will be covered in some way. The club always does.

“What Kev has done for the club is incredible. To me personally, in the story of Man City, there is no better player than Kevin de Bruyne. It has been a pleasure to share a pitch with him for so long.

“I have had this connection with him off the pitch, so it has been a privilege to know him and his family.”

De Bruyne and City Target FA CUP Success

De Bruyne will expect to approach a 15th major trophy with City helping them to overcome the Nottingham Forest in the second semifinal of the Cup Sunday.

Winning the FA CUP would be a great way to conclude a miserable domestic and continental season, before the city went to the United States for the World Cup of the FIFA Club.

Pep Guardiola’s men failed in their attempts to land a fifth successive crown of the Premier League, are third with four games, while their career in the Champions League ended up in the hands of Real Madrid in the 16 round.

The season as a whole has fallen below expectations and Gundogan admits that it is unhealthy.

“The past has shown that this is not the standard we established for ourselves,” he added. “We know that things were not good enough from our side throughout the season. We can’t change it, we can only take it and be honest with ourselves. It’s important to admit yourself.

“There are two goals for us. One is obviously classifying for the Champions League next year, which is vital for the club and also for players.

“The other is to try to reach the Cup final.

“It will be tough, but it will be the only opportunity, with the Club World Cup, for La Plata this season. We will try to go for it.”

Improvement required after the last forestry encounter

The city lost in Forest last month and Gundogan believes that the rise of the side of Nuno Esperito Santo reflects the difficulty of the Premier League.

He said, “When we lost in place we were not on our game’s day and this is what I mean. It’s punished in the Premier League. Maybe in the past we could have been in 70, 80 or 90% and still win games, but now it is so demanding. What they do, they do really well.

“They could be in the Champions League next season and have a lot of quality. We know when we lost against them that it was not good enough from our side. We have to do it better if we want to enter the final.”

Gundogan began the victory of half a week on Aston Villa This prompted the city’s hopes to end the first five places with Matheus Nunes, who won a dramatic 94th minute winner.
