The Side Mallorca League has given the vice-chapter Dani Rodriguez a ten-day suspension and has lifted his leadership role permanently after comments he published online criticizing the treatment of the club with him.
The decision was confirmed by an official declaration on the club’s website shortly after RodrÃguez expressed his frustration on Instagram, not being used as a substitute during the 2-1 defeat of Mallorca against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
The main coach Jagoba Arrasate went to Takuma Asano and Jan Virgili, 19, who made his professional debut after joining Barcelona. Virgil was later celebrated with his family on the stands.
Rodriguez responded with anger to overlook. In a shared message with his followers, he said: “I understand and deeply respect that the decisions surrounding the plays are exclusively taken by the coach. But what I cannot accept is the disrespect that is shown in commitment and dedication.
“It hurts me that a player who has just arrived, with a single training session, has the opportunity to play ahead of teammates who have spent years defending this shirt with sweat and dedication, always putting the club over anything else.
“Hopefully Jan can succeed here and we can all help.
The midfielder also posted a photo of his wife and children in the Bernabeu, entitled with a longer reflection in Spanish. In her, Rodriguez wrote:
“An important lesson and advice: never expect anything from anyone, especially today, when meritocracy, culture and respect for work are visible for their absence.”
Rodriguez joined Mallorca in 2018 and made 277 appearances, playing a central role in two promotion campaigns. Despite its contributions, the club has quickly moved to sanction it.
The official declaration of Mallorca said: “RCD Mallorca announces that Dani RodrÃguez has been suspended from occupation and salary. The club has also stripped him of his captaincy immediately.”
