Hotel worker Brian Nahuel Paiz has been arrested in Argentina in connection with a singer Liam Payne death.

The waiter, 24, was charged last month for allegedly supplying the evening One Address starred with drugs before his fatal fall.

Payne, who rose to fame as one of the five members of the boy band One Direction, died on October 16, 2024 after falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. He was 31 years old.

A preliminary autopsy identified “multiple trauma” as Payne’s cause of death, including hemorrhages in his chest, skull and abdomen. The partial autopsy found that multiple drugs were found in his system at the time of his death, including traces of “pink cocaine” – a mixture of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA – cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.

It was Paiz one of five people charged on Monday, December 30 by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office of Argentina in connection with Payne’s death.

As well as Paiz, a CasaSur employee Ezequiel Pereyra also accused of allegedly supplying drugs to Payne before his death.

Meanwhile, Payne’s friend Roger Nores among those facing charges of manslaughter, along with Esteban Grassireceptionist at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, and head of hotel security Gilda Martin.

During an interview with Argentina Telefe News broadcast in November 2024, Paiz denied dealing drugs to the late musician. Paiz claimed he first met Payne when he was dining at the restaurant where Paiz works in Puerto Madero in the weeks before his death.

According to Paiz, Payne was “already under the effects of drugs and he wasn’t really eating anything” at the restaurant.

He continued, “We exchanged details and saw each other later that evening. It was all normal.”

Paiz insisted, “I never supplied Liam with drugs,” adding that the pair arranged to meet at the “Hyatt in Palermo” on October 2. They met again at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 13.

“We took drugs together, but I never took drugs to him or received any money,” he claimed, adding that he still had the messages exchanged between him and Payne to arrange their second meeting.

Payne’s funeral held in Amersham, England, on Wednesday, November 20. Payne’s former One Direction band members— Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik a Niall Horan – among those present.
