German President Frank-Wolter Steinmeier said Dalmiere was “ambassador to our country around the world and an example to imitate a peaceful, joyful and fair coexistence at the borders.”
Dalmiereer, an experienced climber, represented Germany at two Winter Olympics, winning two gold and one bronze medal in Pyeongchang in 2018.
She was the first woman who won sprinting and persecution at the same games and received another 15 medals, including seven gold, at five world championships before leaving the competition in May 2019.
