The Tesla Cybertruck that exploded in front of Trump International Hotel Las Vegaswhich killed one person and injured seven others, contained containers of gasoline and camp fuel, as well as large mortars with pyrotechnics, according to authorities.
Sheriff of Las Vegas At a press conference Wednesday, Kevin McMahill said investigators know who rented the Cybertruck, which was purchased in Colorado, but they are not ready to identify that person without 100 percent certainty.
McMahill also said investigators were able to track the truck through Tesla charging stations. Las Vegas license plate readers first spotted the vehicle at about 7:30 a.m., and McMahill said it drove up and down Las Vegas Boulevard before pulling into the Trump Hotel valet.
15-20 seconds after pulling up to the hotel, the sheriff added, the car exploded.

During the press conference, the sheriff showed video of the truck’s body, which showed it was filled with gasoline cans, camping fuel cans and large mortars.
But the sheriff also pointed to the exterior of the truck and how it was still completely intact after the explosion.
“The fact that it was a Cybertruck really limited the damage that happened inside the valet because most of the blast went through the truck and out,” McMahill said. “In fact, if you watch this video, you’ll see that the front glass door at the Trump Hotel wasn’t even broken by the explosion.”

Although the explosion did not damage the glass door, seven people suffered minor injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital.
As for all the hotel guests, they have been taken away by another hotel as the investigation into the explosion continues.
As McMahill, Jeremy Schwartz, Acting FBI Special Agent in charge in Las Vegas, would not identify the person in the vehicle, saying, “Our number one goal is to make sure we have proper identification of the subject involved in the incident.”
The second goal, Schwartz said, was to determine whether the bombing was an act of terrorism, which is being investigated by the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The special agent said the task force is made up of area law enforcement officers.
“We don’t do anything alone, and we wouldn’t do anything alone without our partners making sure we’re all OK,” Schwartz said. “We’ve learned from the mistakes of the past and we’re not going to do it again.”
The Cybertruck explosion was the second suspicious fatal incident in a major city since early 2025.

Early Wednesday morning, a man later identified as Shamsoud Dean Jabbar drove a pickup truck into a crowd on New Orleans’ famed Bourbon Street, killing more than a dozen people and injuring dozens more.
The truck driven by Dean Jabbar was rented from the car rental company Turo, just like the Cybertruck that caught fire in Las Vegas. Dean Jabbar’s rental car also sported an ISIS flag on the trailer hitch.
A Turo spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the company does not believe any of the renters involved in the Las Vegas and New Orleans attacks had a criminal history that could identify them as a security threat.
“We are heartbroken by the violence in New Orleans and Las Vegas, and our prayers are with the victims and families,” the spokesman said. “We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards in risk management, thanks to our world-class trust and security technologies and teams that include experienced former law enforcement professionals.”
Schwartz said the FBI is treating the Las Vegas bombing as an isolated incident.
SUSPECT NAMED IN FBI INVESTIGATION OF TERRORISM AFTER BOURBON STREET ATTACK
“We do not believe that there is a group of people who support this or help this, and we do not believe that there is any other danger to the community at this time,” he said, assuring the community that in the next few hours and days, they will do everything possible to look into the incident.
McMahill said he doesn’t know if the two are related, but he hasn’t ruled it out. He also said the Cybertruck did not have an ISIS flag like the truck in New Orleans, but all aspects are being investigated.
A preliminary investigation is pending at this point Tesla CEO Elon Muskwhich McMahill said provided quite a bit of information about how the car was locked up after the explosion due to the force of the blast.
Musk also helped when it came to surveillance footage from Tesla charging stations around the country.
WHO IS SHAMSUD DEEN JABBAR? WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE NEW ORLEANS TERRORIST
The billionaire updated followers about the Cybertruck explosion on his social media platform X.
“We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb that was in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and was not related to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion,” Musk wrote. in one post.
“Evil jerks chose the wrong car for a terrorist attack. The Cybertruck actually contained the blast and sent the blast upwards,” he said in another post. “Not even the glass doors of the lobby are broken.”

President Biden also addressed the blast in Las Vegas.
“We are tracking the Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas,” he said, referring to the fatal crash in New Orleans. “Law enforcement and the intelligence community are also investigating this, including whether there is any possible connection to the New Orleans attack. There is nothing to report at this time.”
