Lars Klingbel Social Democratic Party was accepted to become the next German finance minister in the government, which is part of the coalition center by replacing Joerg Kukies, the party said.
Klingbel was also chosen to take up the post of Vice Concentration School.
“The Committee today instructed Lars Kalingbell to accept Vice-Chancelic Aid and joining the new government as Federal Finance Minister,” said SPD Secretary General Matthias Mysh during a press conference on Wednesday, CNBC reports.
Miersch said Klingbeil would also be responsible for creating the remaining SPD team that serves a new coalition. He performed after the SPD members voted for a coalition agreement between the party’s right party and Germany, the Christian Democratic Union, together with their Selo Party, the Christian Social Union.
The 47-year-old SPD Klingbel veteran has no great experience in financial access, but since 2021 he served as one of the two staff and was elected chief of the SPD parliamentary faction in early 2025. Earlier has been the SPD Secretary -General for several years.
During and after his time, as political science, sociology and history at the University of Hanover Klingbel, he worked in the departments of parliamentary deputies, including the then Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. He was also the deputy leader of the SPD youth organization and assumed various regional political roles.
Salingbel is widely regarded as part of the more conservative Wing of the SPD, calling for increasing the minimum wage and reform of German pension policy in recent interviews, and remain open for higher taxes. It also supports the strengthening of the military and the modernization of infrastructure, criticizing US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy.
In addition to politics, Salingbel has been an avid guitarist for years in rock -beds and sitting in the FC Bayern Munich Advisory Council, which he has long supported.
Other key ministers have already been selected, which should be part of the entrance government. This includes Catherine Rehek as Minister of Economy and Johann Vadefoule as Foreign Minister, both plan to submit CDU in the new administration.
The CDU-CSU Union provided the largest share of the German federal election in February, which was made by CDU leader Friedrich Merz appointed chancellor. He must officially assume this role early next week before the vote waiting.
The German election took place a few months earlier than initially planned after the previous management alliance fell apart from the country’s budget and economic policy.
