Lamine Yamal has been officially delivered to the Barcelona T -shirt no.
The milestone arrives a few days after Yamal celebrated its 18th anniversary and will take over the Ansu Fati T -shirt number, which recently joined Monaco with a loan during the season.
The announcement coincided with a private event in honor of the new Yamal Long Term Agreement with the club. His contract, signed last month, will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2031.
“When I was little, my dream was to debut in a boat, grow and play with number 10,” Yamal said at the ceremony.
“All children born in Barcelona dream of this. Messi has made their way and I will do mine.”
Yamal becomes the most recent of a long line of Barça grains to give the famous number, following in the footsteps of Messi, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Romario and Diego Maradona.
Messi brought his shirt from 2008 to his departure in 2021, winning ten LaLiga titles and four champions’ trophies while becoming the club’s highest scorer.

Despite his age, Yamal has already accumulated 106 senior appearances and has scored 25 goals for Barcelona. He played a central role in helping Spain to raise the European championship last summer and has established itself as one of the most exciting young perspectives in Europe.
“I am a bit indifferent to both criticism and praise, if I do not come from my family or friends,” Yamal added. “Right now, I am very focused on football. Under the last instance, I work for Barça and play Barça, but when I am far from Ciudad Deportiva, I enjoy my life, and that’s it.”
Yamal had glimpsed the change of number in recent weeks, sharing photos of the old legends no. 10 Maradona, Ronaldinho and Messi on social networks.
While the news of the T -shirt number was found with the celebration, Yamal also faces the scrutiny of the field. The reports came from a research launched by the Spanish government this week on possible violations of the disability law.
