Wanted Kohli opened on a powerful early influence that helped shape his journey, and this is none other than the great South -African Mark Boucher.
Before the world greet him as the King of the Modern Cricket, a young man Kohli was still finding his feet in the international cricket; Mark Boucher was already a key figure in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Between 2008 and 2010, Boucher appeared in 27 games for RCB, scoring 388 runs to an average of close to 30 years. And during those training days, Boucher was the one who unexpectedly became a game changing changing to Kohli’s mentality.

He revealed that Boucher offered dirty views about his game without being asked and told him to work in these areas if he really wanted to go miles.
But it was not just the advice of the South Legend -African, but the pure intensity with which he told him that he stunned Kohli. One of the greats of all time, Kohli, credited Boucher’s first words that lit a fire inside him and said that the legend of Proteas had more impact on him.

Wanted Kohli said to RCB’s podcast: “Of all the players I initially played, Boucher had the biggest impact on me. He found out what my weakness could be. If I wanted to go to the next level, this is what I have to do, without asking him.
He told me that “When I come to comment in India for the three-four years from now on and I do not see you playing India, you would do a service service. So I really surprised me with the conversations I had with me.”
In the meantime, the former Indian Captain shared why he stayed with the RCB from the beginning of his IPL trip. The former Indian pattern said that it is the bond and mutual respect he shares with the team and the fans who care the most. Kohli added, “The love I received from the fans, I don’t think any silver boat or no trophy can be approached.”
The RCB icon has emphasized that his retirement from Cricket T20i has not changed anything for him at the current 2025 IPL. He made the decision to set aside so that younger players could have the opportunity and experience they needed to grow and completely prepared for future events.

He was signed by saying: “I do not think things have changed in any way. The decision (to leave T20IS) was purely understood that there is a new set of players who are more than ready and need time; they need a cycle of 2 years to evolve, manage pressure, play in different parts of the world and play enough games to the point that when the World Cup arrives, they feel that they are ready.”
