What is the vision for ‘knives out 3’?
“Beyond location, beyond bikinis against sweaters, he will try something different in narrative and toner. I’m already excited about doing the next one,” Johnson teased Tudum Netflix after releasing the second film.
In October 2023, Johnson expanded on his plans for the third installment. “He’s coming on,” he said when the wrapping. “I obviously can’t work during the strike, and now it’s over, I’m plumbing in full force. I have the default, I have the location, I have what the film is in my head. It’s a matter of writing the damning thing.”
Johnson expanded again in May 2024, writing through X, “I love everything about Whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable is the genre. The whole toner spectrum of Carr to Christie, and exploring that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”
He continued: “We’re about to get into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it goes.”
