King Charles III and Queen’s Camilla celebrate their 20th anniversary of a wedding with an unexpected visit with Pope Francis.
The British kings, who are currently in Italy on a state visit, marked 20 years since their names On Wednesday, April 9, with a private reception in the Vatican. They received good wishes from the Pope, 88, who have been recovering from recent health issues.
“A special minute of her majesty as they met his holiness privately Pope Francis in the Vatican yesterday,” shared Buckingham Palace through X Early on Thursday, April 10.
“The King and Queen were deeply touched by the Pope’s kind remarks for their 20th anniversary of wedding and in honor of being able to share their best wishes personally,” continued the Palace Post.
Initially, Charles and Camilla were planning to visit the Holy as part of their official journey, however, the tour was postponed in the heart of Pope Francis. Palace Buckingham said in March that the visit had been “postponed by an agreement” after “Medical Council has now suggested that Pope Francis would benefit from an extended period of rest and recovery.”
Wednesday’s visit came in the middle of a tight journey for the Royals, which also included the State Feast held by Italy President Sergio Mattarella At the palace of quirinale in Rome.
Charles, 76, acknowledged his wedding birthday in a speech thanking the President and other dignitaries during the dinner. “Today, as you say, the Queen and my twentieth anniversary of wedding. On that score, I must say that it is really good for you, Mr President, to lie on this little romantic dinner, lit with candles for two…,” quoted Charles.

Camilla had the title of the Duchess of Cornwall after her marriage to Charles. He later became Queen Camilla following the death of Queen Elizabeth and Charles’ ascension to the throne in September 2022.
Before his marriage to Camilla, Charles was married to Princess Diana Between 1981 and 1996. The former dubbed two children, Prince William42, and Prince Harry40.
Meanwhile, Camilla was married to the British Army Officer Andrew Parker Bowles between 1973 and 1995. They share two children, Tom Parker Bowles50, and Laura lopes47.
Charles and Camilla romance began long before their first marriages and resumed while Charles was married to Diana.
The rumors of a relationship began in 1986, seven years before the release of a transcript of a telephone call in 1989 between Charles and Camilla which contained several suggestive comments. At one time, it is alleged that Charles had said he wanted to “live inside trousers (Camilla) and joking for reincarnation as a tampon. The incident was the nickname from now on Camillagate or Tampongate.
Charles eventually admitted that he had been unfaithful during an interview on television in 1994.
“Yes,” said Charles when he was asked if he had committed infidelity. “(Not) until it becomes clear that the marriage has broken down is irreversible.”
Charles refused, however, to name Camilla at the time despite reports that she was the person she had a relative.
The interview took place in the midst of Charles and Diana’s separation, published in 1992. Diana broke, of her part, her silence in her own bombs interview.
“Three of us were in this wedding, so it was a bit overcrowded,” said Diana famous in an interview in 1995 with BBC’s Panorama When asked if Camilla contributed to his split from Charles.
