For more than 1,200 episodes, McCullough, now 47, grew up in Port Charles and experienced Glitz and Hollywood’s enchantment with Emmy’s gains during the day, spinoff opportunities and more.
But in 2012, McCullough left the soap opera to pursue her other passion of directing.

“I remember that I had support so,” he shared on the 2021 episode of the “Dishing with Digest” podcast. “I remember all the people on the show like, ‘We’re so sad to see you go, but you need to go.’ It was almost like a college graduation or something and hoped to make my parents proud.
Ever since she was a small child, McCullough remembered an impression Ron Howard and dream of becoming a director.

“I recently instructed Fantasy island In Puerto Rico, ”McCullough remembered on the August 2021 episode of“ State of Mind with Maurice Benad ” podcast. “I’m definitely Latina and this was the first time I was surrounded by brown people and brown crew.”
He continued, “I feel like in a way, I come more back to my original roots and dreams and want for myself.”
To be clear, McCullough remains grateful for the memories and friendships he made A general hospital. But when asked if she was losing acting, the director said she had moved on to other things.

By Kimberly McCullough / Instagram“I would just say it’s time in my life I appreciate so much and I wouldn’t be who I was without but I don’t feel it needs to be done anymore,” he said on the December 2024 episode of “The Locher Room” podcast. “I feel like I’ve just passed on to another part of myself where I can expand a little more. But I miss the amazing story people and lines.”
Instead of walking red carpets or going to Hollywood events, McCullough prefers to stay behind the camera working on a variety of projects, including an original musical film with Xochitl Gomez title Don’t forget.
His Instagram is filled with pictures of his garden or quality time spent alongside her dog and son, whose face is often hidden.

While she has moved on from her A general hospital Days, McCullough still has a deep appreciation for her soap opera character.
“Now that I’ve had a little time away from Robin, I think now I can really appreciate how much I am and she is,” she shared on “The Locher Room” podcast. “I think that’s even more obvious because no one else has played my character. Of course that could always happen but I’m the only one to play Robin.”
