Jean-Philippe Mateta of the Crystal Palace is aimed at a return to action for the Cup apparatus next week against Fulham, although he will have to carry a protective mask.
Mateta suffered a serious injury earlier this month in the fifth round against Millwall after a challenge challenging goalkeeper Liam Roberts.
The attack caused Mateta to be expelled on the head, requiring immediate medical care and a trip to the hospital.
Speaking in an interview with the team, Mateta shared that the main damage was to the ear, describing it as “freshly destroyed”.
Admitted that the result could have been significantly worse.
“I was afraid that I had broken my bones or blood in my brain, but in fact, my ear had just destroyed,” Mateta said.
“At the last minute, I reflected to turn my face.

“After that, I never lost consciousness. But he, seeing my ear, replied,” No, you have to go. “
“A specialist in Plastic Surgery came and took pictures of the ear, who refused to show -to keep them in my head.
“Obviously, it didn’t look like a ear anymore.
After the surgery, Mateta was discharged from the hospital. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, won a 3-1 victory over Millwall, and Roberts received a six-game suspension on his reckless challenge.
Facultaneously, Palace will meet with Fulham in the quarterfinals of the FA CUP at the end of this month, and Mateta wants to be available for the selection.
“I have to be careful to prevent it from being infected, I have to wash it every time you sweat,” Mateta added.
“Next week, I should be able to participate in training matches, but that’s why I will need a mask as long as the ear ends up healing.
“I have been sent several models and I will have to choose from those who only cover the ear and others that cover the entire face.”
