Keyshawn Davis reiterated that he won’t fight his friend Shakur Stevenson, but is open to an exhibition match, “YouTube style.” He says people will want to see him and Shakur fight an exhibition after they clean up the 135- and 140-pound divisions.
The “Exhibition” excuse.
In order for fans to be interested in watching an exhibition match between Keyshawn and Shakur, they would need to become popular among casual boxing fans. Unfortunately, neither is fighting against quality opposition to get the attention.
WBC lightweight champion Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) is routinely booed by fans in his fights, and Keyshawn has been selectively matched by his promoters at Top Rank throughout his three-year pro career.
Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KOs) is massive for the 135-pound division, and he’ll need to move up soon because he looks like a welterweight cut for his lightweight fights. He is scheduled to challenge WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) on February 14, 2025 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Berinchyk is considered the weakest link among the champions at 135, which explains why Keyshawn is facing him. He is the only one who is able to beat. Still, this is a 50-50 toss because Berinchyk is a much better fighter technically.
The one thing Keyshawn has going for him is his massive youth welter size frameand his being face A. The last element might be enough for Keyshawn to win. If Keyshawn were to fight where he belongs at 147, he would be up against it, taking on Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and getting punched.
I don’t know how the hell Keyshawn is able to get rid of the welterweight. Younger fighters are able to burn themselves out without it hurting them, but eventually, they won’t be able to when they reach their 20s and early 30s. Until then, they’re playing the system. If all sanctioning bodies had strict rehydration limits of 10lbs, you would eliminate weight thugs.
“When the time is right”
“They keep asking me to wrestle with you. We can put on an exhibition, that’s what we can do,” Keyshawn Davis said social networkstalking about fans wanting him to fight his friend, Shakur Stevenson.
“We can go YouTube style with these guys real quick. Who won’t? They’ll still watch the expo. They’ll still watch it. We’re going to do an exposé on these fools when the time is right, and I’ll let you know when that is the moment,” Keyshawn continued about wanting to do an exhibition with Shakur. “You’re going to say, ‘Yes.’
“We’re going to show these motherfuckers out and move up in weight, and then we’re going to do the same thing. We’re about to clean up the (lightweight) division and move up in weight. How crazy are you all?
“The man and Shakur are going to beat everybody. We just beat everybody, make weight and never fight. Then he does it all again at 140. That would be fun as shit. Beat all your fighters favorites. They’re going to be sick as hell,” Davis said.
Keyshawn isn’t going to beat everybody at 135, and neither is his friend, Shakur. Check out how Keyshawn is picking and choosing his opponents. He does NOT go after any of these talented fighters:

Keyshawn, 25, is likely to leave the 135-pound division soon without even trying to fight any of these guys because the chances of him losing would be too high. He was almost defeated by Nahir Albright last year on October 14th. Albright phased Keyshawn and dominated him in the final four rounds, wearing him down with pressure like Andy Cruz did in the 2020 Olympics.
The myth of the “top 3”.
“The fans already know that the top three dogs have the same idea of who the top three are in the 135-pound division. I’m fine with that because they put me in that division at 12-0,” Keyshawn said, believing he is one of the top three fighters in the lightweight division.
“The best 135-pounders are light-skinned (Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’, me and Shakur, period,” Keyshawn said. The best 135-pounders. Come on, bro. Call a spade a spade.
Keyshawn is getting a lot of talk about being in the top three at lightweight because he has yet to beat a contender in the 135 pound division.
He’s not even close to being a top three lightweight because he’d have to beat contenders to get to that level. Keyshawn hasn’t even wrestled an opponent. He has been protected by Top Rank in the same way that Edgar Berlanga was when he was with that company.

He’s making a big deal out of fighting the small, depleted light welterweight Gustavo Lemoswho was coming off a loss to Richardson Hitchins and had to drop down from 140 to fight Keyshawn on November 8th.
Why did Keyshawn pick a short guy, Lemos, who wrestles at 140, after a loss, as his opponent? I have a good idea. This was old-fashioned cherry picking. When a fighter selects someone from a higher division to wear out to fight them, it is intended to gain an advantage because the man is weakened. It’s stealthybut it works
Casual fans or those with no critical thinking skills are impressed and are not able to put two and two together to figure out that they are being duped. Keyshawn could have fought his four-time conqueror, the one from Cuba Andy Cruzwho beat him in the 2020 Olympic final and refers to him as “my son”. Cruz volunteered to fight Keyshawn, but chose Lemos instead. What does that tell you?
