Netflix’s Unknown Number: High School Catfish reveal who was holding a high school couple Lauryn licari and Owen McKenny By sending them threatening and graphic texts for nearly two years – which eventually led to a custodial sentence.
The documentary, released on Thursday, August 29, centralized around Lauryn and Owenwho dated when they were 13 until they suffered cyberbully. The catfish specifically disturbed Lauryn over her romance with Owen, which caused them to question whether he was a fellow student or an adult in his hometown of Beal City, Michigan.
After the texts were first sent in 2020, there was a pause before the unknown number became even more persistent, sending up from 0 to 40 messages a week. Owen have graduated since from secondary school and now attend college in Michigan. In the meantime, Lauryn is currently dating a new person from secondary school and has chosen to keep her social media more private in the middle of the new public benefit in her mother’s legal case.
