The South Bathery -Aiden Markram has made an amazing call ahead of the next season Sa20 2026, deciding to leave Sunrisers Oriental Cape, the team that led to two titles. The experienced South Baters -African has chosen to enter the player’s auction, which will take place on September 9.
Aiden Markram was successful as Captain of Sunrisers Eastern Cape, guiding the team towards Sa20 titles on his back in 2023 and 2024. He led the team in the final 2025 season, ending as runners -up. Markram also ended the 2025 campaign as the third highest scorer in the T20 tournament.
According to a report by Espncricinfo, Aiden Markram reported Sunrisers Oriental Cape that will not be part of his retention list for the SA20 2026 season. He will enter the player’s auction on September 9.

“Espncricinfo has learned that Markram told the franchise that he wanted to go to the auction to be held on September 9,” the report read.
The 30 -year -old transmitted his decision to the team management, led by Kavya Maran, ahead of the official retention announcement on July 23. However, the franchise still maintains the right to match card (RTM), giving them the option to sign it again during the auction when combining the maximum offer.
“Sunrisers, however, will have the option to use the right to match card in case they want to buy Markram again.”
Aiden Markram, who previously captured Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, was released before the 2025 mega auction and was then signed by Lucknow Super Giants. His decision to enter the SA20 2026 auction has generated interest among Cricket fans.
The next auction is the largest since the SA20 launch in 2022, with 72 of the 102 points of the total workforce available in six franchises. Above all, the salary lid has increased to R41 million (about $ 2.31 million).
This provides teams with greater financial flexibility to orientation of top-notch talent. It is also worth mentioning that with the SA20 2026, which will begin on December 26 and a larger pool of players will be available for ILT20.
