I feel like I’ve been trapped in the world’s worst nightmare for two weeks I can’t wake up,” Katelynn wrote through Instagram On Saturday, May 10, a day before her first Mother’s Sunday without her son.
“I, Daddy, and Paisley miss you so much. It’s not the same without you,” he continued. “I often find myself looking for you. I’m so familiar with having to watch you like a hawk to make sure you don’t do anything crazy. Now, I don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve been trying so hard to distract me from the pain of losing you but it doesn’t work.”
Katelynn noted that she was “supposed to make bedtime” with Preston, prepared for a bath, making a “sippy cup with warm milk” – and said they were “spoiled” by warming him up – brushing his teeth and embracing him until he fell asleep.
“I’m not supposed to be laying in bed, crying, while trying to choose a wrn for you. I miss you so much it hurts,” he wrote. “You brought joy to millions of people in the short time you were here on earth with us. There was no day that passed you didn’t make us laugh.”
“I don’t understand why God would take you from me … but I choose to trust him with you. I choose to thank him for the time he gave me with you. It’s a choice that I have to wake up every day and continue to choose, and it’s not an easy choice because you would rather you here with me,” he continued. “But I know that being with God is the safest place you could be and I know I will be there with you some day too.”
Katelynn shared a series of pictures of Preston all the years, including he celebrated his first birthday in a baseball pitch and her husband Jaelan smiling as he held his son in the distribution room.
“There will never be enough words to express the pain of my heart and how much I miss you but the one thing that gives me peace is to know that this wasn’t saying goodbye, this saw you later and I couldn’t wait to see you again a little boy,” he concluded.
