Charges in Trial of Karen Reid Looking at the fastening of his story related to the death of Boston police officer John O’KIF, referring to the disaster expert read at the crime scene during the last movements of O’KIFE in the morning of his death.
Read, 45, accused The blow of your boyfriendThe 46-year-old O’KIF, with his SUV lexus in drunken rage in the early morning of January 29, 2022, before leaving him to death in the front yard of the officer’s house in Canton, Massachusetts.
On Tuesday, a special prosecutor Hank Brennan called the state probably the final witness of the stand. Dr. Judson Welcher, reconstruction and biomechanical engineer from the diaphragm, testified that the data of the black box in the car did not register a collision in the morning of death O’KIFE, but he insisted that the lack of data is expected because the system records only the car crash on the car, not the pedestrian.

“You were surprised that there was no collision information (black box)?” Brennan asked.
“No,” Welcher said. “(It was) exactly what I expected.”
Welcher testified that he was able to comply with the Techstream data from the Read Lexus SUV to an information -enclosing car, using his colleague’s reports, Shann Berge, showing that the reading car was included.

“So, we go from the running clock to the real clock,” Welcher said. “If you take when (vehicle) was included in the Burgess report, you see that Lexus was included at 12:12:36”
Techstream Clock in the Read car was from 21 to 29 seconds for the clock phone O’Keefe, requiring investigators to promote the data to match the mobile phone, Welcher explained.
“That’s why you need to compare apples to apples,” Welcher said. “You need to get them at the same time.”

About 19 minutes after the ignition, the Read car registered the second trigger event, Welcher reports. Specifying the revolution to the minute, accelerating and switching data from a black box, Welcher testified that the car Read for 34 feet before returning 53 feet by 74% thrown, and the data shows that the car was driving at 23 km / h by the end of the trigger.
Welcher pointed to the data from the O’Kefe phone, reporting Brenna’s quick speed acceleration of the Read car, which corresponds to the temporary brand of final interaction O’Keefe with the device.
“(Trigger event) matches a mobile phone data window for O’keefe,” Welcher said. “It puts (vehicle) before 34 Fairview.”

“At best for the defendant, this witness is moderately damaging,” Jacques Jack Lou said Massachusetts Massachusetts. “Seventy -four percent accelerations, no brake; Welcher is cute and professional, but not top, modest.”
Welcher drew attention to the observation personnel, indicating that the reading pulled out O’KIFE shortly before revealing his lifeless body in the snow, testifying that his investigation ended with a reading bumper that came in touch with O’Keefe, but no proceedings.
“I really like to see how any party suffered, but it was a bad day for Ms. Reading,” Lou said. “She (was), which ruled a very high level of luxurious SUV Lexus and pushed a throttle for 70% without braking. This SUV lexus probably removed as SpaceX Rocket Ship. This is the character of the beast-very bad kind of read.”

“Thus, the only testimony of contact is nowhere near the upper rear lights,” Welcher said. “I emphasize the word” upper back “because it is in accordance with the lower rear lights, but still the lower rear lantern was also not disturbed.”
The disaster expert showed that he conducted his own experiment with a vehicle, which is the same uterus and model as the SUV Read to explore the possible cause of the scratches found on the O’Kiff’s arm.
Upon learning that he was approximately the same height and weighing as O’Kiff, Welcher covered the posterior lantern with paint before restoring the car strike, with videos that indicate paint, left traces in the same area as O’KIFI.

“The orientation of the gap on the right forearm O’Kefe corresponds to the geometry and orientation of the right rear (read the SUV),” Welcher said.
Welicher testified that he also studied the nature of the injuries who had been attacked, saying Brenna that his investigation made him conclude that O’Kiph was struck by the Reading SUV.
“Based on all the evidence you considered,” Brennan said, “could you share with the jury, what is your opinion, in a reasonable degree of engineering confidence, whether the defendant’s lexus struck on January 29, 2022?

“Based on the set of evidence, DNA, everything I said that it fits what was happening,” Welcher said. “With a reasonable degree of scientific confidence, that’s what happened.”
