The dear Newjeans k-pop women’s group steps back from the spotlight in the middle of a legal drama with their record label, Ador.
During a concert in Hong Kong on Sunday, March 23, the five -member band announced that they will go on an indefinite Hiatus after a South Korean court ruled to carry out an injunction preventing them from performing independently.
“It is very difficult for us to say this, but this may be our last performance for a while,” a member Hillock (Full name why han) he says on stage, per Social Media Concert Photos. “Out of respect for the court’s decision, we have decided to delay all our activities for the time being, and it was not an easy decision. It was not an easy decision, but we think this is something we need to do right now.”
Newjeans includes the Hanni members, American (Kang Hae-Rin), Minj(Kim Min-Ji), Danielle (Danielle Marsh) and Sleeve (Lee Hyye-in). The group ended under ador-a-company for the Hybe-in 2022 entertainment company and became a fastest K-Pop action to hit 1 billion Spotify streams in 2023, the Weather.
Their 2023 track “Super Shy” reached a highlight at No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Ditto” 2022 peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard’s Global 200 list.
The band’s record label drama began in September 2024 after they asked former CEO of Ador Min heijin Restored in YouTube live flow has since been removed. “All we want is to solve this legal conflict and have our work environment return back to normal the way it was before,” said Hanni, 20, in the video, per video Teen Vogue.
Newjeans announced that they were leaving Ador during a press conference two months later.

We really hope we have a chance to meet you guys from all over the world.”
As well as accusing Ador of “abuse” and “treating,” Hanni also claimed that she was suffering from workplace harassment under the label. “This is not the kind of work ethic that we respect and there was not one of which we want to be part, and to continue to work under a company with no intention of defending NewJeans doing harm to us alone,” he said, per BBC.
Earlier this year, the group announced that they would change their name to NJZ in the middle of the legal drama. “We work a lot to solve everything so we can go … back to normal,” Hanni shared in an interview in February Neat.
Two days before the Hiatus announcement, a South Korean court prevented the band members from changing the group’s name and continuing to perform independently, as it would “seriously damage” Ador’s reputation as a result, per court documents obtained by Neat.
Ador disagreed with the performers’ claims and supported the group’s decision to perform on Sunday, as long as they did so under the name Newjeans.
“With our status as NewJeans’ unique agency has now legally confirmed, we are fully committed to supporting the artists going forward,” Ador said in a statement to CNN on Friday, March 21.
