South African politician Julius Malem says he was denied a visa to participate in the UK conference on May 10.
Malem said there was no “significant justification” in the UK for his decision, and he saw it as an “attempt to silence a dissenters.”
In a letter to the Deputy Malem, the High Commissioner of the UK in South Africa Anthony Philipson said the Ministry of Internal Affairs failed to process a visa application in a timely manner.
Malem, the leader of the Freedom Economic Fighters (EFF), is a harsh critic that he perceives both “Western imperialism”, and advocates the nationalization of white land in South Africa.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the BBC that he did not comment on some cases.
The report on the X Eff said the Verkhovna Commission “actively postponed the processing and approval” of its leader’s visa so that he could not speak at the University of Cambridge on May 10.
He was invited by the African University Society to resolve the African conference together, the Eff added.
In his letter to which the BBC said, he is a real, Mr. Philipson said he wanted to “apologize” that the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the UK “was unable to process the statement during the necessary steps necessary to consider the visa applications and the unfortunate deadlines in the UK.”
He added that in the last week he seized “personal interest in this issue.”
“I understand that it will be deeply disappointed, especially since the delegation has been stated in advance and some paid for the priority,” Mr. Philipson said in a letter to the Garden of the AnF.
Mr. Philipson added that the Ministry of Internal Affairs agreed to return the fee for the application.
Malem said on X that the Delegations of the Eff promised that “everything would be sorted” but received a “letter of regret a few hours before leaving.”
“This is unacceptable and continuous,” he added.
On May 5, the UK was a bank or publicly.
