Jude Law Calls Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony After Mother's Death 'Emotional Experience'

Jude Law finally got his star on Hollywood Walk of Famewhich he postponed to start after mourning the death of his mother, Margaret.

“It’s actually been quite a long process because I found out and was originally going to get the service a few weeks ago,” Law, 51, told People at the ceremony on Thursday, December 12,. “And in fact, I lost my mother. So, we had to postpone it.”

He added, “In a very odd way as a kind of final gift, it meant that a little more of my family could actually be here. To be honest, the whole event has been quite an emotional experience, and obviously a very personal and very moving occasion.”

The Order His wife joined the star on Thursday, Philippa Coanand his children Rafferty, 28, and Iris, 24. (As well as Rafferty and Iris, Law also shares Rudy, 22, with an ex-wife Sadie Frost; Sophia, 15, with ex Samantha Burke; Ada, 9, with ex Catherine Harding; and two children with Coan.)

“They were just lovely. I mean, they’re always so supportive and loving,” gushed Law People. “We are very lucky to have each other, but they are my backbone.”

In his Walk of Fame speech, Law honored both of his parents.

“I had a mother who showed me great silent films and comedies and musicals and dramas from the Hollywood Golden Era, American new wave (and) foreign films,” Law recalled. “And I had a father who in the 70s and 80s took me to blockbuster movies where we ate our body weight in popcorn and chocolate.”

He also addressed the presence of Coan, Rafferty and Iris.

“I’ve been very, very fortunate to have had a family around me that has lived with my passion for acting and filmmaking and supported my interest,” Law said. “And some of those members of my lovely family are here today. And they know what they mean to me. I love them so much.”

Rafferty has since followed his father’s acting footsteps.

“It’s nice because we have similarities and we’re so close, so now that I’m older he can help me work on scripts and I can send him my music and he can say, ‘Yeah, that’s great, ‘” Rafferty told GQ Hype in 2021. “He is happy to see me become the young man he is proud to call his son.”

He added, “My father is my best friend; he and I have always been so close. Like any father and son, growing up I looked up to my father a lot.”
