Journalists who helped the White House cover up President Biden’s mental decline must be held accountable for misleading the public. The New York Post demanded in a new editorial.
“Democrat-friendly journalists saw the same evidence that Biden was compromised as the rest of us, and instead of being skeptical, asking questions, and setting the White House on fire, they did their own thing. workplaces — they joined a crusade to light up America,” the Post wrote Wednesday.
As Biden prepares to leave office, the media is facing new scrutiny over how it covered one of the year’s biggest stories — concerns that Biden was unfit for office.
Throughout the 2024 presidential race, many media pundits and commentators have come to Biden’s defense when speculation about his mental acuity has surfaced, including after special counsel Robert Gurr’s report that he well-intentioned but forgetfulviral videos of him looking confused and the Wall Street Journal reporting on his shaky behind-the-scenes behavior.
Despite polls showing that most Americans think Biden is too old to serve a second term, many journalists have treated questions about Biden’s health as a right-wing conspiracy.
“The whole idea that Biden was anything but sane — even manly — was seen as tinfoil-hat-wearing right-wing talk.” writes the Post.
Those concerns reached a tipping point after Biden’s erratic performance in the June debates forced him to drop out of the race.
“And at every turn, spineless reporters on the sidelines dutifully did Team Biden’s dirty propaganda work — until the debate, when Biden’s malaise became too obvious to continue denying,” the Post editorial said.
“Now they behave shyly, but it is too late to save their shattered credibility,” writes the Post, referring to a recent Semafor report, where several – admitted liberal journalists that their defense of Biden was their worst in 2024.

“I’m leaving 2024 with a lot of contempt for the president and the people around him — who were, in essence, elder abuse — and no small amount of embarrassment that I didn’t see through their deception earlier,” journalist Josh Barro told Semafor.
“Like many others, I was completely, completely, completely, embarrassingly wrong about Biden’s lack of mental competence,” former MSNBC anchor Mehdi Hassan also admitted to the publication.
The revelations come at a time when there is trust in the media at an all-time low according to a Gallup poll.
SUCCESS: MEDIA, TOP DEMOCRATS AND CALL LEADERS DEFEND BIDEN’S ABILITY TO SERVE
The Post insisted that Biden’s former defenders in the media should not be released from custody.
“No one who perpetuated, concealed or is ignored this grotesque scandal must one day survive,” says the editorial.
Criticism follows a recent Wall Street Journal report, citing interviews with current and former White House staffers who said Biden’s stamina problems were evident in his first few months in office.
The The White House pushed back the gist of the magazine’s report in a statement provided by Fox News Digital, which said Biden’s political achievements are “indisputable evidence” of his qualifications and leadership.
