Josh O’Connor and Paul Mescal Had a close moment on you on the set of their new movie, Sound history.
The actors play Lionel Worthing (Mescal) and David White (O’Connor), who bond over the music and trauma of the First World War. After the war, the pair travels through rural Maine collecting the folk songs of their countrymen, while also developing feelings for each other.
During a Post-Scratching and Reporting At last weekend’s Telluride Film Festival, O’Connor, 35, described what it was like shooting a special steam scene with Mescal, 29.
“We were kind of keeping ourselves apart, and in the characters actually, and then we did the first work, and it was the tongue, and just – he dribbled down me, and Paul was like a wait,” said O’Connor, noting that Mescal was lying on his back with his mouth open.

The actor nominated for Oscar said that singing in the film was not something that came “naturally at once”, but added that it was “not something that filled me with terror” either. “It’s not about performance or demonstration, it’s about connecting with the song, which links to the words, which is my job as an actor eventually,” he explained.

“I feel they are very different,” Mescal said of both roles. “I’ve sung in movies before, and every time it feels very different and I suppose, playing the great Paul McCartney has to feel very different again.”
The Beatles-Cinematic Four Films About to be released in April 2028 and will include four films, each based on one of the Beatles. Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr. Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison.
