Southampton suffered the first decrease in the history of the Premier League, as they were sentenced to the fall with a 3-1 defeat in Tottenham.
The saints have endured a miserable age in the first flight after gaining promotion through the play-offs of the championship last season.
And they succumbed to the inevitable in northern London, an arm by Brennan Johnson putting Spurs in command.
Mateus Fernandes retired to Southampton in the 90th minute, but a 96 -minute penalty of Mathys Tel assured Spurs points.
It is the result of facilitating assembly pressure on Tottenham Cape Ange Postecoglou after the defeat of the week of the week in Chelsea.
However, the Tottenham season is essentially resting in its fortunes in Europe League. They face Eintracht Frankfurt in the first part of their tie in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Southampton became the first team to be relegated with seven games to play, and he was still able to break the record for the total number of points of the lowest Premier League, his last defeat by keeping them in 10 points. Derby County was relegated with a minimum record of 11 in the 2007-08 season.

“We need to avoid this record. Do our best. It can’t happen,” said manager Ivan Juric after the party.
“We are now thinking of the games. Now we will see what everyone thinks, what I think. The fans deserve much more and we have to understand all the mistakes we have made and then create something really strong.”
Although the Spurs had no problem seeing Southampton, Postcoglou was not yet satisfied with his second half, knowing that he probably will have a more complete performance against Frankfurt, which is third in Bundesliga.
“We had a good performance in the first half and we need to make sure that we do it for the full 90,” Postecoglou told BBC Sport.
Johnson’s goals were his first since February and Postcoglou added to Wales International: “He was prominent and also won the penalty. His general play was really good, not only his goals so satisfied with him.
“It was important that we had a victory today and everyone has gone through (without damage) for Thursday.”
The Chelsea suffered a setback in the Champions League football race, as Enzo Maresca’s decision to make five changes from the side that surpassed the Tottenham 1-0 three days ago could not pay dividends.
The talisman Cole Palmer was among those on the bench, perhaps with an eye on the quarter of the league league of the Thursday European Conference with Legia Warsaw.
It was Brentford who had the best opportunities in the first half.
Bryan Mbeumo shot right in front of the right place, and Keane Lewis-Potter forced Robert Sanchez to have an impressive savings. At the other end, Tosin Adarabioyo missed a golden opportunity to give the lead to Chelsea before the break.
Nicolas Jackson presented himself to start the second half and almost had a quick impact, and Mark Flekken showed great reflexes to prevent SEPP van den Berg from turning the Senegal Cross on his own network.
Palmer entered the strip just before the time mark, and although Flekken was the most busy of the two goalkeepers later, Van den Berg and Yoane Wissa closed with heads for the hosts.
Chelsea star man had the opportunity to win in the 94th minute, but his effort from the edge of the area flew, and stretched the Blues League on the road to eight games.
Maresca men will be jumped in Fourth by Manchester City if they win Manchester’s derby, and Chelsea deployment gives Newcastle United the possibility of moving the level with them by exceeding Leicester City on Monday with relegation danger.
