Johnny Halyday car lost in poker game, auctioned at auction

A classic car belonging to the late French rock -stars Johnny Khalidei, before he lost it in a poker, auctioned for 132,000 euros (143,000 dollars; £ 110,000).

Panther de Vilo was given to him in 1975 with his then wife, singer Silvi Pavan. Its custom fittings include Mink Seats, Gold Disk Top grilles and Hubcaps that carry its initials.

The French Auction House Osenat told the BBC that the vehicle was purchased by a French man for “a specific project he would quickly discuss” and the buyer had to pay an additional buyer prize of 26,400 euros.

Halyday lost the car playing poker with a friend in 1977.

Ossena told the BBC that Halyday reportedly tried to redeem the vehicle back from the owner, but was dissuaded by his leader, who referred to limited finances.

Panther de Ville was a neoclassical luxury car with a 1930s-style design. It was manufactured in Britain from 1974 to 1985 and had the V12 Jaguar engine.

The Halyday Yellow-Black 1975 model was one of 69 classic cars sold by Osena in Fontainellau, near Paris, Monday. Auctions expected the vehicle to come between 55,000 euros to 80,000 euros.

The gold disk is inscribed in the name of the Khalide. Pavan placed it on top of the grate to celebrate the most sold records he released in 1975.

Halyday was a famous car lover. But for two years he was forced to part with a vehicle, losing poker at a friend’s house, Stefan said the Osonat on the French website.

However, the happy winner preferred sports models, and then exchanged for Ferrari, the owner of which was a real fan of Halyday’s, he added.

Pavan and Khalidei divorced in 1980.

Halyday sold more than 110 million records and made a number of films for a career that covered 57 years. He continued the tour until the death of the lung cancer in 2017 at the age of 74.
