John Ryder says that Terence Crawford should have been in 154 for two or three more fights to get used to the weight before passing up to 168 to challenge Canelo Alvarez for his super indisputable championship on the middle weight on September 13.
Ryder believes that the weight will play a role in the fight, with Canelo with too much advantage over Crawford. He thinks Bud should have struggled at 154 and 160 before raising to 168.
“I think the weight will be too a problem. Canelo is a special talent and I think the weight will have a factor in the fight,” said John Ryder to Fight Hub TV. “I would have liked Crawford to be more and middle light to take advantage of it. But take advantage of these opportunities when they come, and that’s greatness.”
After the problems that Crawford had against Israil Madrimov, he and Turki Alshikh chose not to fight any other talent at 154. You could say to see Terence’s performance against Madrimov who would lose if he fought against the other young people, such as Bakhram Murtazaliev, Vergil Ortiz Jr., Sebastian Fundora and Yoenis.
Age, size and inactivity were trapped in Crawford. If he had stayed in 154 to “incorporate” in the weight class, as Ryder wanted him to have done so, he would have repeatedly lost. As for 160, this would have been worse for Crawford, fighting boys such as Janibek Alimkhanuly, Carlos Adames and Erisland Lara.
It’s not just the size that Crawford would have caused to get rid of. It is its inactivity. Fighting once a year for five solid years has taken a long time to its game, and when you add to this advanced age and its lack of size, it is too much.
If it weren’t for Turki that launched Crawford a lifestyle giving -Canelo’s struggle, Crawford would probably have retired after Madrimov’s combat.
Canelo’s opportunity “Silver dish”
It is very bad that Turki did not use his money in more deserving fighters in the £ 168 division, such as Diego Pacheco, Christian Mbilli and Osseys Iglesias. These fighters deserve to fight Canelo more than Crawford. He should have had to win the struggle beating them, instead of making Alvarez’s struggle a silver dish just because Turki likes it.
“Yes, he delves into it. His struggle (Crawford) against Madrimov was his first struggle at 154,” said Crawford. “It still develops and grows in this weight. I could have done a couple more, and then moved to 160. But everything is a bit fast.”
Crawford was in a hurry because he saw the writing on the wall after he was called a decision against Madrimov. Would probably have lost for all these fighters:
– Bakhram Murtazaliev
– Erickson’s Lube
– Sebastian Fundora
– Vergil Ortiz Jr.
– Jaron Ennis
– Serhii Bohachuk
– Janibek Alimbhnuly
– Erislandy Lara
– Carlos Adames
Boxing is the sport of a young man and the non -active fighters have even more problems. Crawford could not have left in 154 another minute than he did without his career tank. It could no longer have happened to 160 and mix it with Janibek, Lara or Adames. Although Crawford is younger than 42 -year -old Lara, her inactivity makes her bigger and she is not as great as she or so technically endowed.
“Therefore, he will not fully put himself in the muscle and to build himself in the weight, and obviously he will do so with the intention of returning to 154 and taking on other challenges. It is not a long-term goal to stay there,” said Ryder.
We do not know if Crawford will return to the division of 154 pounds, as he has not mentioned it. It is more likely to retire if you lose and you do not make a reanimation with Canelo. It will be in Turki Alshikh. If you want to continue to subsidize Crawford’s career, keeping it with unaccotized opportunities, you can continue to do so until the background falls.
