Former CIA Director John Brannan and former National Intelligence Director James Klapper responded sharply on Wednesday to the Trump administration allegations that they had prepared Intel in the spreading investigation of Russia, which dominates the first term of the president.
“This is clearly false. Given these accusations, they seek to rewrite the story. We want to set a record right, and, doing so, sound warning,” the couple wrote In the guest essay for New York Times.
Director of the National Intelligence Director Tuls Gabard claimed that former President Barack Obama and his administration members, including Klapper and Brennan, contributed to the “far -fetched story”, which Russia intervened in the 2016 election in favor of Trump, which led to the spread of an investigation into the Trump’s conspiracy. Trump described the alleged actions of Obama, Clapar, Brennana and Komi as a “serious betrayal”.

“Each serious review justified the fundamental conclusion of the intelligence community that the Russians held a campaign aimed at helping Mr. Trump to win the 2016 election,” the couple continued. “Although the wrong performances and misinformation of the administration is too much to decide here, let’s set the record right on three. To be clear, we write here in personal capabilities, and our views do not mean the approval of a federal agency.”
Claimed Brennan and Clapper What styles dossier, The author of the former British intelligence officer Christopher Stila and is funded by the presidential company Hillary Clinton and DNC, was not used as a source and not considering any analysis. However, they added that it was included in the “separate application” only to the highest classified version of the document that contained an assessment “in the direction of the FBI.
Representatives also stated that their assessment “did not make an opinion on the impact of the Russian operation on the 2016 elections.
“Russian actions of influence could form the views of the Americans before they entered the voting booth, but we did not find evidence that the Russians had changed any actual voices,” Klapper and Brennan wrote.
Clapper appeared on CNN to challenge the allegations by telling the owner Keitlan Collins that the claims were false. Brennan joined the MSNBC Earlier this month, he said that he “did not understand” why he would be investigated.
“Finally, contrary to the wild and groundless requirements of the Trump administration, there was no mention of” conspiracy “between Trump and Russians, as well as no links to publicly recognized contacts that have taken place,” added Clapper and Brennan.
The couple insisted that “true politicization” came from the members of the Trump administration, in particular Gabard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

“The real politicization is the settlement distortion of the administration officials, in particular, the directors of Mr. Trump and the CIA, which should be apolitical. We believe that the administration continues to perpetuate the fictitious story that Russia does not interfere in the election of 2016. We will bring the appropriate two -party action to stop it, ” – concluded Klapper and Brennan.
