Joe BidenA family has become somewhat accustomed to being under the spotlight, before and after he moved to the White House.
The same year Biden won his seat in the US Senate in 1972, his first wife, Neilia Hunter Bidenand their three children, Beau, A hunter and Naomi ‘Amy’ Biden, in a car accident. Neilia and Amy, aged 13 months, were killed in the accident, while Beau and Hunter survived with serious injuries.
After a period of mourning, brother Joe Frank Biden set him up on a blind date with Jill Bidennée Jacobs, in 1975. The couple married two years later and welcomed their daughter, Ashleyin June 1981.
“She gave me my life back,” the politician wrote of Jill in his 2007 memoir, Promises to Keep. “It made me start to think that my family could be whole again.”
Joe was elected the 46th president of the United States in 2020 but left the 2024 presidential race to endorse his Vice President, Kamala Harris. In the end Harris lost the election to Donald Trump.
During the last month of his presidency, Joe made history after becoming a great-grandfather to serve as president.
