Joe Alvin is ready for everyone to ditch his relationship with Taylor Swift

Ex-boyfriend of Taylor SwiftJoe Alvin has moved on from their relationship and thinks other people should too.

The actor talked to Guardian about his upcoming film The Brutalist, and when asked if he was ready to move on from the relationship and the attention that came with it, he made it clear that he was ready.

“Other people should do this,” he told the publication. “We’re talking about something that happened in my life a long time ago. So it’s for other people. That’s how I feel.”

Swift and Alvin dated for six years, keeping it very private throughout.

The actor was asked if he worried that his relationship would overshadow his career, which includes award-winning films such as The Favourite.

“I tried to just focus on controlling what I could control,” he said, “and from the beginning I tried to focus on the things that mattered to me: friends, family, work, of course. So the noise on the street from this I think I did what a lot of people do who find themselves in the public eye, which is to try to ignore it.”

He continued, “If you don’t, and if you let all these other things in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty damn… -ed.”

Alvin and Swift collaborated on two of her albums, Folklore and Evermore, both released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Under the pseudonym William Bowery, he’s recorded on two songs, “Exile” and “Betty,” and co-produced several more tunes under his real name, “Folklore,” winning a Grammy along with Swift in 2021 for the group’s album of the year.

“The lockout was a bunch of surprises and it was very special,” he said of the experience. “It was not what I would have anticipated.”

Their relationship ended in early 2023, close to the start of the singer’s record-breaking Eras Tour.

In April 2023, a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Olwyn and Swift were called it quits saying “it wasn’t dramatic” and the split was “amicable”.

“The relationship just ended,” the insider added, explaining that the former couple’s split was the reason why Alvin wasn’t seen at any of Swift’s Eras Tour shows.

Olwyn, like many of Swift’s exes, has been the target of intense scrutiny from her fans who have studied her lyrics, especially her latest album, “Department of Tortured Poets” clues about the ups and downs of relationships.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old spoke with Sunday Times style about close attention from the public.

“So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, the press, where it’s then picked apart, speculated on, deformed beyond recognition,” Olvin said. “And the truth is that until the last moment there will always be a gap between what is known and what is said.”

“I’ve come to terms with it,” Olwyn added.

He also told the publication that he and Swift had “mutually” decided to “keep the more private details of our relationship private.”

“It’s never been something marketable, and I see no reason to change that now,” Alvin said. “And, look, it’s also just over a year ago, and I’m fortunate to be in a really great place in my life, professionally and personally. I feel really good.”

During this interview, Alvin refused to say whether he was in touch with Swift or his dating status.

Swift is currently in a tense relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce, which began in the summer of 2023.
