Does not happen often, but even after 48 seasons, Survivor host Jeff Probst still make mistakes.
His latest hair occurred in the episode of Wednesday, May 7, from Survivor 48When he called wrong Joe Hunter Winner of the last seven immune challenge.
“In a moment like that, when I make the wrong call, the only thing on my mind is to correct the call immediately,” Probst, 63, said in the week’s episode of ““On firePodcast.
The challenge ended with a bow puzzle made of blocks that marked the word “unforgettable.” Custody was that the puzzle needed to be identical on both sides, and Joe had one block out. Probst Joe announced the winner anyway before correcting himself immediately and gave the victory to Kamilla Karthigesuswho finished her puzzle correctly just seconds later.
“This is not the first time I have been wrong. I’m sure this will not be the last,” Probst told Cohost Rachel lams and executive producer Jay wolff. “And I think it’s important for the audience to know that these things are happening.”
Probst called multi-phase competitions as the same on Wednesday “controlled chaos” as he tries to track each of the remaining seven players in different parts of the challenge-by adding his own commentary in deciding who assembles their puzzle correctly.
“You must be able to tell the story in real time from who is actually close and could win,” Probst added. “But you also have to tell the same story to someone who thinks they are close, but it is not, because the audience can see that a letter is wrong.”
Making his job even harder, Probst said he doesn’t wear an ear during challenges, so there’s no way for a producer to give him heads if a player is about to solve the puzzle wrong.
“This goes back to the first tribal council of term 1 when Marc (Burnett) He said, ‘Hey, they told me there is something you can put in your ear and I can talk to you.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, do you think you could give me one shot without that?’ ”Probst explained.“ Mark was so cool. He said, ‘Okay, everyone tells me that I should do this, but okay, Jeff, you’re very onerous.’ And from that point on, I’ve never worn one. “
The Blunder happened most famous Probst competition in season 7, Survivor: Pearl IslandsGenerally considered one of the show’s best seasons. In one immune competition, competitors were asked to spell the longest word correctly with individual blocks that identified “Pearl Survivor Islands.” Probst was declared Burton Roberts The winner, without realizing he had misspelled “contact” as “Liason.” The Castaways had already started leaving the competition when Probst realized his mistake and recalled them.
