According to a latest report, the Indian Cricket National Team Chief Jasprit Bumrah has rejected the team’s test captaincy after the removal of Rohit Sharma.

Captain Indian Rohit Sharma recently announced his decision to remove from the longest format of the game, and several candidates arose to take over the test captaincy, including Jasprit Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah declines India Captaincy

The tastes of Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, Rishab Pant and Kl Rahul have leadership skills and their names were discussed as a possible replacement of Rohit Sharma.

Jasprit Bumrah was one of the leading role contestants because he served as a deputy of Rohit Sharma in the red ball cricket. However, he has left the race, as he is not interested in capturing the team.

According to a report by Sky Sports News, Bumrah denied the captaincy of the test and does not want to commit to playing the five tests in the series against England due to their injury problems and their workload.

“Jasprit Bumrah has chosen to be the next Indian Test Captain, with Shubman Gill and Rishab Pant Now the leaders, Sky Sports News understand,” reads the report.

Bumrah led India in two games of the border-Gavaskar 2024-25 trophy, winning Perth and losing Sydney. Before, he had directed India in a test game against England in 2022, which India lost.

According to various media, Shubman Gill is confirmed as the new captain of the India Cricket National Team in the test cricket.

The announcement on his appointment is scheduled for a press conference soon, where the India staff will also be announced for the tour of England.

Shubman Gill will be assisted by Ris Hurbh Pant to the leading test team, as the Wicketkeeper-Batsman star has ended as a vice-chic.
