‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar praised India’s spearhead bowling Jasprit Bumrah for his outstanding performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Even though Jasprit Bumrah’s efforts were not enough to save India from a series defeat against Australia, Sachin Tendulkar described him as the “best in the world”.
Bumrah was the leading wicket-taker for both teams in the recently concluded five-match Test series. The right-arm fast bowler took 32 wickets in five matches at an average of 13.06 and a strike rate of 28.38, including three five-wicket hauls. He was named “Player of the Match” for his bowling performances.
Sachin Tendulkar praised Australia for their remarkable comeback, winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 after trailing 0-1. He congratulated them for the win and highlighted the exceptional performance of Jasprit Bumrah.
“Commendable performance by Australia to come back from 0-1 down to win the series 3-1. Congratulations to them for winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Special mention to @Jaspritbumrah93. ‘Jas’ is the best in the world!” Sachin wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Jasprit Bumrah set a new benchmark for an Indian bowler in an away Test series, surpassing Bishan Singh Bedi’s record of 31 wickets from the 1977-78 tour of Australia. Bumrah was unable to play on the final day of the fifth Test due to back spasms, where India suffered a six-wicket loss.
Australia chased down 162 runs to win. The defeat knocked India out of contention for the World Test Championship final, which will be played between Australia and South Africa in June.
Bumrah has played 45 Tests and taken 205 wickets, including 13 five-wicket hauls. He is expected to have a short rest before the next series against England, ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Wasim Jaffer and Harsha Bhogle expressed admiration for Bumrah’s performance during the series. Jaffer said every time he took his mark, Australian cricket fans held their breath until the ball was played safely. Bhogle described watching Bumrah bowl as a memorable experience in his media career.
“Every time Bumrah got to the top of his mark, Aus cricket fans held their breath and only let it go after the ball was played safely. Rarely have I seen a cricketer so dominant the Aussie psyche. Gave everything he had & single handedly ensured the series was alive till the last day #AUSvIND,” tweeted Wasim Jaffer.
