Sharjah Warriorz batsman Jason Roy had a good start with the bat for his team in the match against Desert Vipers in the ILT20 2025. The match between the two teams took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Wednesday (22 January).
Jason Roy was the lone warrior for his team in the game against Desert Vipers. The England national cricket team batsman came in as a super substitute for his team when the wickets were left reeling at the other end. He made sure he put in a decent effort and gave his team something to fight for with the ball.
During his innings, Jason Roy also had a nasty collision with his batting partner Harmeet Singh. It was during the 13th over of the innings, when on the fourth ball, the English batsman played behind a long off-ball from Dan Lawrence towards point. He ran the first race quickly, eager to catch the second.
However, during the second innings, he had a nasty collision with Harmeet Singh when the two batsmen collided. Both Jason Roy and Singh quickly got up to return to the crease and then checked each other.

Coming into the game, the Desert Vipers continued their golden form with the bat and ball in the ILT20. Sharjah Warriorz had a horrible outing with the bat. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were left reeling at 30 for five. It was then that super sub Jason Roy (30*) played a fighting hand for the team despite wickets falling at the other end.
Jason Roy’s struggling innings with the bat saw Sharjah Warriorz over 85 runs as they managed just 19. For Desert Vipers, Mohammad Amir was the pick of the bowlers as he got a toss of four ports.
Chasing the goal, Desert Vipers put in an amazing effort. Fakhar Zaman (71*) hit a magical half-century and along with Alex Hales (23*) added 95 runs together to take his team home. With this win, they all but sealed their place in the playoffs.
Sharjah Warriorz skipper Tim Southee spoke about the loss and admitted it was not his best effort. But I was hoping things would change in the next game. Speaking after the match, he explained:
“They always hurt, when you’re six for 30 it’s always tough, but the beauty of this competition is we get a couple of days off, dust ourselves off and meet these guys again. T20 cricket can be times and we hope to fix it in a few days.
“When you’ve got 90 on the board, you’ve got to get early wickets but a couple of dangerous batsmen and after that you’re as good as you’re going to get.”
