Matloc He finally revealed who was responsible for stealing Wellbexa documents – but where will the show go from here?
During the term end, broadcast on Thursday, April 17, Julian (Jason Ritter) Not marked as the person responsible for hiding the docs. When Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) face it, Julian urged her not to reveal his secret to anyone – In spite of Matty (Kathy Bates) Wait to find out if Julian was to blame.
Ritter, 45, broke that shocking moment in a unique interview, saying Weekly US.
Have be out of the link In the first half of the season, Ritter was glad he knew before the finale.
“At a certain point, I felt it was important to know what it was. I didn’t decide when that moment was, but I trust (a creator) Jennie (Urman Cheats) So much. I think she is such a great writer and showrunner, ”he told Us. “So she pulled me aside on the exact right time and let me know what was happening. But I didn’t know how it was going to develop.”

Michael Yarish/CBSRitter was fascinated by the mode is “left in the hands of Olympia” Without a decision.
“In order for it to end like that with Olympia and Julian in this security deposit box room where only the two of them are begging for his life, that was the only version I ever read,” he shared. “When we read the table, people loved that scene and they were like, ‘Oh, my gosh, what happens next?’ That’s exactly what you want for a cliff. ”
Julian’s reasoning was examined leading to a chapter on Thursday, and Ritter hopes that viewers will understand his decision, saying, “There is a tragic element. From the start of the season, they set up where you are like, ‘Whoever has this must go to prison. That’s it.” Now you can see the person behind him who is still doing a terrible thing, and that can’t be ruled out.
Ritter continued: “But as Jennie’s writing is always – it’s more complex and layered than that. Humans are complex. It’s one thing as a lawyer in the world and then it’s another thing for Olympia to be talking to her children’s father and thinking about how she’s going to affect them all.
According to Ritter, Julian May regret it although he has not voiced his guilt completely. “He put those documents in that security deposit box and probably spent 10 years thinking he was going to be caught,” he explained to us. “Ultimately, he raises children and things start to look normal. He may be a good father offset the terrible thing he did. I don’t think he ever thought, how many years later, this would come back and he would fight for his life.”
Matlock, who first performed in September 2024, follows a wealthy retired lawyer called Madeline Kingston (Bates) who pretends to be a bad widow named Matty Matlock to get a job with Jacobson Moore’s legal company. As it happens, Matty thinks someone in the company is part of the opioid epidemic that led to her daughter’s death.
The first season revealed Julian’s mistake only to Olympia, but he remains unclear whether Olympia tells Matty or defends Julian for their family’s sake.
“Olympia has such a strong moral center as if they had no children together – even if they were married – he would say, ‘I’m sorry, but you did this.’ If Julian goes to prison or Julian is excluded, I don’t know what she will do, ”provoked Ritter. “I’m so interested in seeing. But I wonder if she will once hear the logic associated with his father, will that be enough to refocus the energy on higher? Or is that too far to pull it in really trouble?”
There is also a subject of Olympia and Julian’s possible reconciliation.
“I don’t know where that leaves their romance. I think Olympia is such a good person and a simple moral person, it would be very difficult for her to trust him again,” he told us. “After the relationship and now the huge, this disobedience, trust is such an important part. It’s so easy to destroy and so hard and painful. You can build it, but it’s a lot of hard work for both people.”
After the shocking ending, there are many potential for Julian’s story in season 2.
“We’re going to see much more Julian and get to know not only him. We met his mother, which was very exciting for me. We might meet more members of his family. Julian isn’t younger. So I’m very excited to meet my brother,” explained Ritter. “He has a completely different relationship with our father than Julian does, which is also painful.”
Ritter is also excited about “more backstage,” saying, “Olympia spoke a lot about his family, but we haven’t had to see much of it. He’s a very fun character to play. He has so many different elements and it’s fun to be free to have to be one thing.”
Best part of the exposure finale? Know juli There will be more views with Matty.
“That’s the thing I can’t stop thinking about because we don’t get that at the end of the season. Is Matty going to know for sure that Julian has done that? If she knows for sure that Julian has done so, there is so much pain and there is so much anger about losing her daughter that these two people would find a way forward that does not include Julian behind bars?” Ritter asked. “I’m so interesting. Is there a moment where Matty understands why Julian did that and can forgive? Or are we contrary for a whole season, that it might be completely. I know the writers will choose whatever the most interesting and fascinating version.”
Matloc has been refurbished for season 2 and each episode is available for streaming on Paramount+.
