Cricket Australian legend and Pakistan’s former main coach Jason Gillespie has opened on the challenges he faced during his term with green men. Gillespie revealed that he still hopes paying his work with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), describing the disappointing situation.
Jason Gillespie became the coach of the Pakistan test team in April 2024, but resigned in December. He was disappointed by the decisions of the management, which were made without his participation. Gillespie also took over the white ball team after the South African cricketter and World Cup winning coach, Gary Kirsten, resigned.
Speaking on Pak Passion’s YouTube channel, Jason Gillespie revealed that he is still waiting for his remuneration for his work. Gillespie is still optimistic that he will be resolved on time.

“I am still waiting for some remuneration of the work being done. So I only go sailing for it in his day,” Gillespie said.
“Certainly this has been a bit disappointing, but we hope this can be ordered sooner than late. But yes, we will learn. But yes, as I said, we hope this orders as soon as possible,” he added.

Australia Fast Bowler’s ex-group as Pakistan’s lead coach was marked by ups and downs, including a 2-0 test loss in Bangladesh and a 2-1 comeback victory over England.
During his time, Gillespie was removed from the selection box and had no influence on the team’s programming, leading him to feel that his role had been diminished to only one “party strategist”.
Gillespie was ready to continue this reduced capacity, but resigned after the Pakistan Cricket Board decided not to renew the contract of the assistant coach Tim Nielsen without informing him.

During the same video, Gillespie praised Pakistan T20 captain, Salman Ali Agha, describing him as a high-end talent. He acknowledged the presence of players who could have been more focused on personal performances than the team’s success.
“The fact that Salman Ali Agha was given this opportunity, I think he is a high -end talent. He has been around for some time now. I think he has a really ripe head on his shoulders and I think he can take things in his way,” said Gillespie.
“I think there were probably players, without names names, I could probably identify some players who felt from the outside who played more for themselves than for the team, without going into details,” he added.
Pakistan players are currently involved in Pakistan 2025 Super League. The team will start preparation for the T20 2026 World Cup with the ongoing tournament.
