In Colombia, an Italian refugee was arrested, accused of coordinating the shipment of large cargo cocaine from Latin America to Europe.
The head of the National Police of Colombia described Emmanuel Gregory, who is also known as “dollar” as the “head of the Italian Mafia Latin American”.
He said that Gregory was found in the apartment in the coastal city of Cartagen in a transnational operation, which included Italian, British and Colombian investigators.
He was on running since 2023, when the prosecutor’s office accused him of being a key figure in “Lombardy Mafia System”, which they called the alliance between the pantry, the Nostra and the Ndrangheta Mafia groups.
Police accuse Gregory of playing a key role in organizing cocaine departments from Colombian port cities in Kartachen, Baran and Santa Tero to Europe.
The head of the Colombian police, Carlos Triano, said the arrest of Gregory was a “serious blow” of transnational criminal syndicate.
He also called him an “invisible drug” who did not pay attention to himself.
The observation personnel, published by the Colombian authorities, showed that he went to the gym and visited the local restaurants in the upscale neighborhood where he rented the apartment, apparently without fear of being recognized.
Prosecutors say his arrest in Colombia indicates an increase in the presence of the Italian mafia in Latin America.

In particular, Italian mafia groups have expanded their presence in Colombia and Brazil in recent years, the analytical center said.
