According to the police, two women were raped and the man was killed by an attack near the UNESCO popular world heritage in South India.
Two women – an Israeli tourist and an Indian home -based operator – became a star with three tourist men near the lake in Hamak, Karnataka, when they were attacked by a group of men on Thursday night, said the RAM police chief.
Araziddi said the attackers pushed men into the Tungabhod River channel before raped women.
Two men, one of them American, survived, and the body of the third man was extracted on Saturday morning, he said.
“Five people – two women and three men – were attacked near Sanapur,” Araziddi said.
“Two of them are foreigners, American (man) and another woman from Israel.”
Police detained two men accused of attacking and the investigation is ongoing, Araziddi said.
Police believe that men followed the group.
According to one of the women, the group sounded near the temple in Sanapur when three men arrived on the motorcycle and asked where they could get gasoline.
As one of the members of the group gave them instructions, one of three men demanded from tourists 100 rupees ($ 1.29).
“Since the home environment did not know them, she told them that they had no money,” the police said.
“When men repeatedly insisted, one of the men -tourists gave them 20 rupees.
“After that, three men allegedly started arguing.”
Later, the body of one of the men -tourists was found in the Tungabhodra channel near the Kappal district Karnataki.
The case was registered in the rural police department of Gangavati in sections related to extortion, robbery, gang rape and attempted murder.
Police said the victims receive medical treatment at a public hospital.
Hamaki, an ancient village in the South Indian state of Karnataka, is a home for many ruins and temples from the Vijayanar empire. In 1986, it was recognized as an object of world heritage in 1986.
In a report on the X Chief Minister Karnataki Siddaramia wrote: “The attack and rape of a citizen of Israel and the homeowner is the most horrific act.
“As soon as the incident was reported, I received information from the relevant police, conducted a thorough investigation and instructed them to quickly identify the guilty.
“Police have arrested two accused in connection with the case and continued the investigation.”
Last year, attacks on women in India attacked international attention after the brutal rape of the younger doctor at the hospital in the eastern city of Calcutta.
The attack has provoked national indignation and protests about lack of security for women.
