“The women ran out, desperately trying to avoid fire,” he continued.
“Many martyrs were lost on the fire, and we were helpless to save them. It was great to watch them die before us without the opportunity to do anything, because the flames quickly spread from one tent to another.”
He said the “large number” died.
A placed woman from Khan UNIS said the strike killed 10 members of the same family when they slept and five other family members were injured.
The man described how he raced on stage with others, hearing the explosion and tried to put out the flames, throwing sand on the tents.
“But we fell,” he said. “The fire was too intense by consuming tents and people inside. We were helpless, we couldn’t do anything to save them.”
Amandan Bazerol, Emergency Coordinated Sans Frontiers (MSF) in Gaza, said the strikes had been close to their office, and the IFF received some victims.
“He was very close to our office in the south last night. When the tents were targeted and caught fire, we got patients. Most of them actually died and come dead, but we have very critical patients,” she said in the BBC.
The Gaza Civil Defense Agency said seven people were killed in the Northern city of Bate-Laia, two near Al-Mavasi and 10 people in Jabalia, including seven members of one family in one attack and three people in the school building in the other.
In a statement on Thursday, the Israeli military said the strikes over the last two days “inflicted more than 100 targets”, including “terrorist cells, military structures and infrastructure”.
IDF said they hit UNIS, who killed Yahia Fati Abd al-Cader Abu Shar, head of the smuggling network at the beginning of the week. It states that steps have been taken to mitigate the risk of damage to civilians.
