Hamas published an Israeli-American hostage, who was captured in the 19 months in Israeli troops as part of the new ceasefire transaction, the group said.
21 -year -old Edon Alexander served in the Israeli army on the border of Gaza, when he was captured by Hamas militants on October 7, 2023.
On Monday, Israel stopped his hostilities in Gaza for a few hours to alleviate the transfer. Hamas’s high official reported the BBC that the release was intended as a gesture of goodwill ahead of US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East on Tuesday.
It is believed that Mr. Alyaksandr is the last US citizen who has held Hamas, who was still alive. Trump suggested “congratulations” to his family on his release.
In his statement, his family thanked the US president, but also called on the Israeli government and negotiators to continue working to release 58 other hostages.
Mr. Alexander first freed himself from Hamas since Israel restarted the military offensive on March 18 after the two-month ceasefire.
On Monday, he was seen with Maskaya Fighters Hamas when they handed it over to the Red Cross workers in the southern city of Gaza Khan Yunis.
He was then transferred to the Israeli authorities in Gaza before being reunited with his family in southern Israel. Israeli military said it was a “safe corridor” to release Mr. Alexander.
The video, which was shared on the X -Prime Minister, Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu, showed that Jael Alexander talked to her son on the phone.
“You are strong. You’re protected. You’re home,” she said in the video.
Netanyahu called Mr. Alexander’s return “a very touching moment” – and thanked President Trump for his support.
The release was made possible by the military pressure on Hamas and “political pressure provided by President Trump,” Netanyahu said.
He added that Israel intends to continue plans to intensify his hostilities in gas and that there would be no ceasefire.
Earlier, Hamas said that the release of Mr. Alyaksandr was intended to facilitate the transaction for the entry of humanitarian aid into the Anclau.
Israel has blocked the entry of all food, medicines and other humanitarian gas supplies for 70 days, which aid agencies say it is hunger and could become a war crime, and restored its air bombing and other hostilities there in mid -March.
Earlier, Hamas said he would only agree to a deal that includes the end of the war. This repeatedly rejected Netanyahu.
Trump should come to the Middle East on Tuesday, and Israel promised to expand his military offensive against Hamas if the transaction is not reached by the end of his visit.
Israeli officials said plans for their expanded offensive include confiscation of all gases for an indefinite period, forcibly displacing the Palestinians to the South, and take over the distribution of assistance with private companies, despite the opposition of the UN and its humanitarian partners who say they will not cooperate.
On Thursday, Israel should send representatives to Qatar to discuss the proposal for further hostages.
Qatar and Egypt stated that the release of Mr. Alexander was a encouraging sign of potential new talks.

It is estimated that the five prisoners in Gaza have US citizenship. Mr. Alexander is considered the last American who is still alive.
