The Israeli Culture Minister threatened to finance the National Film Award in the country after the sea, the history of the 12-year-old Palestinian boy, received her main award.
A film stemming from a boy from the occupied West Bank who wants to go to Tel – to see the sea for the first time, won the best movie on the Ophir Awards – Israeli equivalent of Oscar.
In a statement on X, Mickey Zochar stated: “There is no greater slap in the person of Israel than an awkward and rejected annual Ophir award ceremony.”
As the winner of the best category of films at the Ophir Awards, SEA is now becoming an entry into Israel into an international film in Oscar next year.
According to local media.
The stars of the sea received other major prizes at the award ceremony, including the best actor for the 13-year-old Muhammad Gazavi Jr.
A 12-year-old khaled, who refused to enter Israel at the Israeli Defense (IDF) pass, will play in the film.
Then the kaleya makes his way into Israel and tries to get to the sea, while his father, an undocumented worker in Israel, tries to find it.
During the ceremony, the producer of the film Baher Agbar said that the film about “every child’s right to live in peace, the fundamental right that we will not refuse.”
But in his statement, Zohar called Ophir awards as “unpleasant and rejected.”
He added: “Under my clock, Israeli citizens will not pay from the pockets for the ceremony that spits in the faces of our heroic soldiers.”
Responding to Zohar’s comments, Asaf Amir, chairman of the Israeli Academy of Cinema and Television, said: “Since the endless war in the gas takes a terrible death and destruction, the ability to see” others “… gives a little hope.”
Amir added: “In the conditions of attacks by the Israeli Cinema and Culture Government, as well as calls from the parts of the international cinema, to boycott us, the choice of the sea is a powerful and loud answer.”
This happens after thousands of Hollywood industry experts signed the key, promising not to work with Israeli cinemas that are “related to genocide”.
On October 7, 2023, Israel began his war in Gaza in response to the attack under the direction of Hamas on Southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people, and another 251 took hold.
At least 65,000 people were killed in Israeli attacks, almost half of them women and children, the Ministry of Health in Gaza reports.
On Tuesday, the UN Investigation Commission said that Israel was committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the report and announced it as “distorted and false”.
