The Israeli military said she posted and determined the body of Mohammed Sinwar, the military leader of the Palestinian armed group Hamas in Gaza.
His body was discovered in a tunnel under a European hospital in the southern city of Khan Yunis, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Sunday.
It states that he confirmed the identity of the body through the DNA -CH – although Hamas did not publicly confirmed his death.
The 49-year-old Sinwar was killed in an air ticket on May 13, which, according to Hamas civil defense agency, killed 28 people and injured dozens.
Sinwar’s body was found with Mohammad Sabana, commander Rafa Hamas, IDF said.
It adds that “several points belonging to the Sinovar and Saban were posted, as well as additional intelligence results that have been transmitted for further investigation.”
IDF said the other bodies he wanted to determine were found.
On Sunday, IDF accepted a small group of foreign journalists in Khan Yunis to show them a tunnel.
He also posted a video of the entrance to the tunnel in front of the European Hospital. The footage shows a long narrow underground corridor leading to several rooms.
Press -Secretary of the IDF, Brig -en Ether Defrin, said they found Mohammed Sinwar’s body in one of the rooms.
“This is another example of Hamas’s cynical use, using civilians as human shields, using civilian infrastructure again and again,” he said.
Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using hospitals as storage for weapons and team centers that the group denies.
IDF has set siege and attacks on gas hospitals or ordered their evacuation, leaving the health care system on the verge of complete collapse.
Such attacks have caused extensive international concern, as many hospitals and medical institutions were excluded from action – and the life of patients and staff is at risk.
In a statement after the strike at the Al-al-Hospital in April, UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres expressed deep anxiety and stated that in accordance with international humanitarian legislation, “wounded and sick, medical staff and medical institutions, including hospitals, should be respected and protected.”
Hospital staff also repeatedly denied that Hamas used their facilities as a base.
IDF will point to this last shot as a testimony to its claims and military strategy.
As in Gaza, a complete independent check is impossible.
Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to an unprecedented cross -border attack on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and 251 were hostage.
At least 54,880 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the Ministry of Health in the field of health in the territory.
Updated fights in Gaza come after the ceasefire and hostage exchange a few months ago.
Since then, Israel has restored its goal to destroy Hamas and restore the hostages from which 54 are in captivity, and 23 are still alive.
Mohammed Sinwar joined Hamas shortly after the founding in the late 1980s and became a member of the group’s military wing, the Brigade of Jesady al-Comas.
He rose through the ranks, and until 2005 he was commander of the Brigade of Khan UNIS.
Sinwar was reportedly close to another of Hamas Mohammed’s previous military chiefs and participated in the planning of the October 7 attack.
His brother and predecessor Yahia Sinwar – considered one of the inspirers of the October 7 attack – was killed by Israeli troops in October last year.
