Is Abdullah Mason a step from the world title?

Continuing as a combat of co-cinquena on the Keyshawn Davis vs Edwin de los Santos card, the light contestant Abdullah Mason will be assumed Jeremiah Nakathila (26-4, 21 kos) on Saturday, June 7, at the SCOPE Arena de Norfolk, Virginia.

This next boxing event will mark the second time the Wbo Lightweight Champion Keyshawn Davis is fighting in his native city in Norfolk, Virginia, and also marks the second time Abdullah Mason will be part of the Davis Natal City Event Card.

Abdullah Mason, a native of Bedford, Ohio, who is now fighting outside Cleveland, Abdullah Mason made his professional boxing debut in November 2021 when Jaylan Phillips stopped in the second round. Mason put his career on cruise control while stopping 12 of his next 14 opponents.

At the sixteenth struggle of his career, Abdullah Mason faced adversity as his heart was tested. At Night Keyshawn Davis had his first return event in November 2024, Abdullah Mason fought against Yohan Vasquez in a combat scheduled for eight rounds.

In the initial round of the competition, both Mason and Vasquez used Foot Feints, trying to find the right rank. With 2:12 remaining in the first round, Vasquez floated Mason when a solid left shot landed.

Thirty-four seconds later, Mason returned the favor when he connected with a sharp left that Vasquez sent to the fabric. Vasquez got up, but despite the injury to his legs, he scored a second time when he hit a Mason with a hard counter in his left hand.

Due to his legs injury, Vasquez became a motionless goal at the beginning of the second round. Mason would hit Vasquez for the second time and, unfortunately, by Vasquez, he counted.

Mason would continue to collect two additional wins through TKO. Now, the light contestant of 21 years, Abdullah Mason (18-0, 16 kos), will face Jeremiah Nakathila.

Mason knows that he has to stay focused and take care of business on the night of June 7, but if he is successful, Mason already has his next step. If the two boxers win on June 7, Mason wants to face the Wbo Lightweight World Champion Keyshawn Davis.

During a recent interview with Fighthype, the light contestant Abdullah Mason spoke of the possibility of challenging the World Wbo Keyshawn Davis World Champion.

“We are both in the same division, and I only received the news in my last interview that I am ranked number two in the WBO, and it is the champion in this sanctioning body. So it is very possible that I and he would, cross roads,” said Mason.

Mason could be online to face Keyshawn Davis, but apart from fighting Davis, there is another way that Mason can get the Wbo strap. Recent speculations have been elaborating on the potential of Keyshawn Davis until the division of 140 pounds.

If Keyshawn Davis is victorious on Saturday night, and then continues to the Super-Lum Division, Wbo’s world title could be done. In this particular scenario, Abdullah Mason and the best classified contestant of Wbo, Sam Noakes, would fight for the Vacant Wbo strap.

However, Abdullah Mason is not fixed in just Keyshawn Davis and Wbo’s world title. In his aforementioned interview, Mason spoke of being open to facing any of the division belt holders.

“Anyone in the light division. Any of the champions, Keyshawn Davis, Tank Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Raymond Muratalla,” said Mason. “You know there are four champions and I’m rolling to everyone. So, any opportunity to make me on my way, I’m ready for it.”
