Former India team Irfan Pathan has opened on the possibility of taking a role as coach with the national team of Cricket in the future. The starter turned into a cricketer also revealed that being involved in players development and the testimony of growth gives him immense satisfaction.
Pathan represented the Indian Cricket team from 2003 to 2012. He was part of the squad that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South -Africa. Pathan played 29 tests, 120 hate and 24 T20 international. He scored 2,821 runs between the bat. The left arm pater took 301 doctors with the ball.

Irfan Pathan expressed his interest in taking on the role of the main coach of India in the future. Speaking at Revfrastz, Pathan said he wants to see growth inside the squad as a coach.

“Oh, yes, definitely, because I like to see that growth occurs. Sitting growth and seeing growth, being involved in it, is something that growth gives me a lot of fun,” said Pathan.
Following the departure of Ravi Shastri, India supported Pathan’s former teammates to train the team. The side won the World Cup of 2024 T20 under Rahul Dravid. With Gautam Gambhir at the helm, India raised the Champions Trophy of 2025.

Irfan Pathan also spoke of the influence of John Wright’s coaching, under whom he debuted in India in 2003. Pathan acknowledged that there are technically stronger coaches, but said that Wright’s style inspired him. Pathan added that when the time comes, he will take on a coaching role.
“I would like to share something here, I really liked John Wright’s coach style. When I first joined the Indian team, I used to work very hard, keep everyone very close, involve -many other things,” said Pathan.
“I have seen better in technical terms of training, but their style is something else. It was the players, managing -all behind it. All this used to give me a lot of excitement. So, yes, in the future, when the time comes, why not? It will happen safely,” he added.
